CONTROL CABINETS

Process equipment control cabinets are made according to all safety requirements and are designed to control electric motors, electrified gate valves and other electrical equipment. Schneider Electric, Siemens, Phoenix Contact equipment is used as protection, switching and control devices.

Typical scheme of electric motor control realized in control cabinet provides 2 control modes: local (from local control panel without PLC participation) and remote (from PLC). Information about the state of the electric motor is available to the PLC in both modes. If necessary, it is possible to switch off the electric motor by PLC command even in local mode (for example, a pump in local mode pumps liquid into a tank, the level in which is controlled by the PLC and the pump will switch off when the tank is full).

Electric motors can be controlled by direct and reversible starters, soft starters and frequency converters. Motor protection is provided by means of motor protection circuit breakers, thermal releases, motor controllers, as well as protection built into soft starters and frequency converters.

Typical scheme of gate valve control realized in control cabinet provides 2 control modes: local (from local control panel without PLC participation) and remote (from PLC). The gate status information is available to the PLC in both modes. The control circuitry disables the gate actuator either by the open and closed position limit switches or by the gate torque clutch limit switch (retractable closing).

The gate valves are controlled by reversing starters, solid state relays or PBR (contactless reversing starter). Protection is provided by means of motor protection circuit breakers and thermal releases.

For adjustable gate valves, schemes with feedback from the gate positioner and either pulse control or analog control with a separate power supply to the gate are used. Similar control of gate valves with pneumatic actuator is realized in the same way.
